The Anglican Faith

The Christian profession of Faith is the Nicene Creed.

The following elements are characteristic of the Anglican Tradition:

  • We believe that the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God

  • We believe in the Episcopal nature of the Church (consisting of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons) as an inherent element of apostolic faith and practice

  • We believe in the Sacraments of the Church

  • We believe in the Catholic Creeds: the Apostles’, the Nicene, and the Athanasian

  • We believe in the Councils of the undivided Church

  • We receive the Liturgical Tradition of the Book of Common Prayer as the standard for Anglican faith and practice

  • We receive the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion of 1571 as a legitimate expression of Anglican belief regarding doctrinal controversies of that time.
